History of Renaissance Art and Architecture

The Master's Degree course in History of Renaissance Art and Architecture enables the student to appreciate, value and promote the historical importance of Renaissance art and architecture as the forerunner of modern art and architecture, emphasizing its influences and cultural impact that still echoes today especially in reference to the so-called “Universal Men,” i.e. those artists and scientists who ranged across all known human knowledge at the time. Successful completion of this degree program will result in 120 ECTS.

Content

Upon completion of the Master's Degree course in History of Renaissance Art and Architecture, the student will have acquired the tools that will enable him or her to conduct an art-historical evaluation of a work of art or architecture taken under consideration, being able to read that work in the context of the period of reference and emphasizing its technical innovation and influence in subsequent eras.
