Description and Objectives of the Advanced Training Course
The Advanced Training Course in Counseling, with particular attention to the helping relationship in the school context, is designed to develop advanced skills of listening, understanding, and intervention in educational settings, promoting well-being, participation, and inclusion. The program integrates the foundations of General Psychology (cognitive, emotional, and motivational processes) with contributions from the Psychology of Teaching, in order to competently interpret the factors that support or hinder learning, motivation to study, self-regulation, and the quality of the classroom climate.
The core focus of the course concerns the construction of an effective helping relationship in schools: the principles and techniques of psychological interviewing applied to the school context are examined in depth, with reference to needs assessment, definition of the setting, conducting interviews with students, teachers, and families, and managing complex situations (distress, conflict, demotivation, relational difficulties). In parallel, the area dedicated to the Psychology of Communication and Group Dynamics strengthens tools useful for managing interactions and collective processes typical of school life: cooperation, educational leadership, negotiation, conflict prevention, and analysis of intra- and intergroup dynamics, including the impact of digital contexts on peer communication.
The professionalizing dimension is further reinforced by the module on Methodologies and Techniques for the Design and Evaluation of Psychological Interventions, which enables the translation of counseling actions into operational tools consistent with the school context: design of listening services, classroom interventions, guidance pathways, and prevention activities, with definition of objectives, indicators, monitoring tools, and evaluation criteria. Overall, the course aims to train professionals capable of integrating methodological rigor and relational sensitivity, operating in schools with advanced communication skills and attention to personal protection and ethical-deontological responsibility.
