Writing for Television Seriality

This course offers an introduction to what are the fundamentals of writing for the current new television seriality, both those related to the generalist networks and the new platform realities. During the course you will consolidate what are the foundations of the right idea but also understand well the writing methodology to be used according to the target broadcast. Fundamental will also be how to know how to make a pitch of the project developed during the contests.

Content

At the end of the course, the student will bè able to write the idea/concept of a TV series, structure the narrative arc of the characters, understand the turning points, reinforce the idea of genre and genre hybridization, identify the right broadcast, be able to know how to weave together multiple stories, both in what are vertical and horizontal serialities.

Admission requirements, examinations and final test

Applicants possessing a High School Diploma and a Bachelor's Degree or a Master's Degree, Master's Degree, or Old Degree are eligible for admission. In the absence of the required qualifications, admission on dossier is possible, based on an evaluation of the qualifications obtained and the experience acquired, as well as the skills developed within the framework of professional activity.

 

Lectures will be delivered at the discretion of the Lecturer through term papers, commentaries, specialized manuals, handouts or lectures via live streaming platform. Evaluation is expressed in thirtieths.

 

The final examination consists of a written paper.

Consolidate understanding and ability of the text from a narrative point of view

Consolidate the ability to focus on an idea and theme

Know the main models of television script construction

Writing a series concept

Identify the theme, structure, and arc of character transformation

Create an in-depth bible

Identify the technical features that belong to the writing of the individual television genre

Know how to create dialogue inherent to the genre

Know how to write a pilot episode with formal mastery

Know how to use at least one software program for scriptwriting

Mastering technical terminology

Conceptualize variants for writing television serials
