IEDC Conference – “UNA FANCIULLA DI NOME EUROPA” – “ΜΙΑ ΚΟΡΗ ΜΕ ΤΟ ΟΝΟΜΑ ΕΥΡΩΠΗ”

The Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy – Ancona branch, under the patronage of the Municipality of Ancona and the Department of Culture, is organizing on Friday, 20 February 2026, at 4:00 p.m., at the Civic Art Gallery “Francesco Podesti” in Ancona, a conference entitled:

“UNA FANCIULLA DI NOME EUROPA” – “ΜΙΑ ΚΟΡΗ ΜΕ ΤΟ ΟΝΟΜΑ ΕΥΡΩΠΗ”

The meeting proposes a cultural and symbolic itinerary, a true fresco of the origins and formation of Europe, retracing its mythological, historical, and spiritual roots. Through the figure of Europa—both a maiden and a metaphor of an ancient yet ever-relevant civilization—the fundamental stages that contributed to the birth of European identity will be explored, understood as a space of dialogue, cross-fertilization, and shared memory.

The speaker will be Massimo Lopez, scholar and member of the Scientific Committee of the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in Italy, who will guide the audience through an interdisciplinary reflection intertwining myth, history, and culture, offering interpretative insights into contemporary Europe starting from its most remote past.

Participation is free of charge, but prior registration is required due to limited seating.
